Book Review: The Awakening of Sunshine Girl by Paige MacKenzie

I know I am to start a review with the who, what, where and may be some of the why.  I know I’m supposed to titulate you and coerce you with my words into reading this tour de force sequel to The Haunting of Sunshine Girl.  I know this is my job as a reviewer but I just finished reading The Awakening of Sunshine Girl and all I can utter is…Wow, what an amazing story.

I will give a spoiler — so stop reading here.

It’s a cliff-hanger ending! (Arrgh.)

Okay, now that is out of the way, I’ll back up and start again.

We meet Sunshine just a few days after we leave her at the end of the last book.  Her test is over.  She is alive and so is her mother, Kat.  But, within a short time we know that her life will not be the same because of the man we met at the very end of Book 1.

He’s a pivotal character in this new saga.  We’re not sure if we, the reader, should trust him.  We know for sure that Sunshine shouldn’t but he’s the only one with any possible clue about getting the answers Sunshine desperately seeks.

Through harrowing adventures of which I will not divulge, Sunshine is taken somewhere to find out the truth of who and what she is.  You’ll meet new people in this story.  You’ll have some great belly laughs along the way.  But most importantly, you will see Sunshine grow and mature before your reading eyes.

Love, betrayal, tortured choices and a fabulous vintage motorcycle all factor into this thrilling YA paranormal story.  You may not be able to put this book down once you begin reading it.

Take my advice: Start reading The Awakening of Sunshine Girl on a Friday night so you’ll have fewer distractions over the next two days!

***This book will be released on March 1, 2016.***
